Our hiring process
Our process might feel different from other hiring processes, and we’re proud of that! We’re here to find Labmates who will join our team and have a positive contribution to our mission and culture.
We’ve developed a hiring process that aims to mitigate and counteract the discrimination and bias that often exist in talent recruitment and hiring. We prioritize equity and accessibility to make it easier for all people to gain access to amazing jobs (like the ones we have at LifeLabs).
We apply extra effort to make LifeLabs roles available to candidates of all identities and backgrounds by:
Limiting experience requirements
Having multiple decision makers at every stage of the process
Offering a range of accommodations
Using structured questions and scoring
1 Application review
We ask application questions that give you an opportunity to share your relevant skills. Our application questions are standardized and specific, so everyone answers the same questions. Resumes are not a sole decision criteria in any part of the process.
2 Interview process
We use a structured script, questions, and scorecard to ensure each candidate has a fair interview. We also take notes and record our interviews for review by the hiring committee, and for when we need to include additional reviewers (this way we’re not unintentionally relying on our biases!).
3 Job offers
When making the final hiring decisions, we consider each stage of the process, as well as alignment with our LifeLabs values. We make sure that there is never just one person making a hiring decision to mitigate bias as much as possible.
4 Interviewer Training
We train all interviewers on how to notice and mitigate their own hiring biases while also creating a warm and informative experience.
Depending on the role you apply for, you can expect to go through 1-3 asynchronous or live interviews.
The order and description of each stage can be found in the specific job posting.
